England fans last night formed a giant St George's Cross at Wembley in a 'massive statement' amid a row over the football team's 'woke' kit design.

Thousands of supporters in the East Stand held up red or white cards shortly before the start of England's match against Brazil in response to Nike's insulting woke twisting of the flag on the team's new shirt.

The back of the cards – whose display was organised by the Football Association – urged fans to 'raise the flag' in a show of support that 'will be seen by millions of fans watching on TV around the country'.

The FA initially gave its "full backing" to Nike, but the outraged reaction of fans, and the country as a whole, forced its woke leadership to do a rapid U-turn.
